Travel, Hike, Camp, Ride and Live in 2013

Happy New Year!! 2012 was an odd year at Goneguru. We had a lot of plans on New Year’s Day of 2012 that got pushed forward to 2013 and a lot of things that weren’t planned that happened in 2012. Some of our planning went better than expected. The trip to the Coeur d’Alene Ironman Triathalon in June was great. The un-planned spur of the moment trip to DeSoto State Park between Tampa and St. Petersburg exposed us to a jewel of a state park and campground and one of the best beaches in America. The quick trip to Banff took one off the bucket list and the returns to Cataloochee and Cumberland Island showed us that there is always more to see than you saw on the first trip. St. Simon’s Island was shared with family including the 3 and under crowd, and Mt. LeConte remains one of our annual mainstays. We raised money for the fight against Multiple Sclerosis riding our bicycles in the MS 150 at Callaway Gardens and drove through a covered bridge in Indiana.

We didn’t make it to NYC, or Cape Cod, or Key West or any points overseas, but we did take up kayaking and had a ball at Fort Yargo St. Park. We particapated in the BRAG Spring Tune Up and BRAG light and this year we are headed for Paddle Georgia. We’ll also be backpacking on Cumberland Island in April and on top of Mount LeConte in May. Mount Mitchell might appear on the list again, but only time will tell where the rest of the days will be spent. Wherever we go we’ll be looking for a story to tell, sights to share, and friends to meet, so we hope to see you along the trail, around the campfire, maybe at a play, or out on the dance floor.

To all, Happy and Prosperous New Year!!
